Hey, wassup everybody!
Anyway, sorry for the wait. I meant to give my con report a lot sooner, but I unfortunately, I lost the power cable to my laptop at the con. I had to order a new one and I didn’t touch my laptop until then since I’m weird like that when it comes to saving energy for my computer. So yeah, sorry about that.
Anyway, Anime World Chicago was a great experience and it was the first time we got to showcase my current project, Anime Sentai Jamranger, which is a nerdy take on Power Rangers. My and a bunch of other guys set this up as a stage show pilot so that we could get the word out about the possible future web series that we’ve all been planning. We didn’t have much of a turnout those three days, but I think that’s to be expected since not many people knew about us.
As for the rest of the con, it was pretty cool. I met up with my friend, Moe, who is also currently in the works of being a voice actress. I plan to help her out as much as I can. Another cool moment of that day was when I met up with this cute Lollipop Chainsaw cosplayer. After some small talk and me telling her that I was a voice actor, she wanted to know a lot more. I believe we hit it off rather nicely. We took some time to talk about voice acting as well as Game of Thrones since we are both big fans of that series. I believe her name was Morgan and she was pretty cool. I hope to run into her again some time. I also hung out with another new friend named Sarah. She and I have a mutual love for League of Legends. Yes, I am a player of LOL and my sorcerer name is Omender. Feel free to add me.
The second and third day were pretty much a repeat of the first. Hung out, walked around a bit more, met up with Sarah each day, it was alright. One big thing I did for another friend of mine was film a video of Todd Haberkorn giving a shout out to my friend. Her reaction was priceless.
Not much else to say about this con sadly. It was actually not that big, but then again, I like those small cons. They are a lot more social and you really get to know people and there’s no sense of the rush.
Now then, that’s my con report, but there is something else that I wanted to mention here. In my travels I have come across an organization with a noble ambition. They are known as the D20 Girls. It is their mission to rid the world of the “booth babe” image of nerd girls everywhere. A booth babe is the girl who is just standing in a con to look hot and make a booth look better, while never actually knowing what is going on and/or what she is advertising. In effect, they bring about the image that girls can never really be true nerds of something. The D20 girls are there to prove that girls can be nerds just as much as guys. I fully endorse this group and the word should be spread.
